What Is the Job About?
Hope Spring Community Humanitarian Initiative is a non-governmental organisation (NGO) working to improve community health. The NGO is looking for a Nutrition Officer to help prevent and manage malnutrition. The role focuses especially on children and mothers, two groups that are most vulnerable to nutritional deficiencies.
This is a field-based role that combines direct community work with programme monitoring and reporting. You will be working on the front lines of public health, helping families access the nutrition support they need.
Main Responsibilities
- Screen children and other community members for malnutrition. Early detection is critical to preventing severe health complications.
- Support the treatment and prevention of malnutrition. You will help deliver both curative and preventive nutrition services.
- Train health workers and community volunteers. Building local capacity ensures that nutrition programmes can reach more people.
- Educate mothers and families about healthy nutrition. Good nutrition starts at home, and education is key to lasting change.
- Monitor nutrition programmes and manage medical nutrition supplies. Keeping programmes running smoothly requires careful oversight of resources.
- Collect health data and prepare reports. Accurate data helps the organisation measure impact and improve its programmes.
- Work with government health agencies and other NGOs. Collaboration is essential for reaching communities effectively and avoiding duplication of effort.
Requirements
- A BA/BSc or HND qualification.
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
